Oticon Opn is now rechargeable and fully connected!

With recent updates to the Oticon Opn hearing aids, the device is now fully rechargeable, fully connected and available on all modern smartphones. This hearing aid which connects to the If-This-Then-That (IFTTT) service has just become the first rechargeable hearing aid with open sound experience and NFMI & 2.4GHZ direct streaming. Oticon has released the ConnectClip, a wearable device which offers absolute connectivity for wearers, including direct streaming, a remote microphone, a remote control and a wireless headset allowing the user to control computers and other devices. Let's take a closer look at what the ConnectClip allows Oticon Opn users to do.

Oticon ConnectClip Features

Make and receive phone calls

The ConnectClip uses direct streaming to transmit a callers voice directly to the Oticon Opn hearing aids, while the built-in microphone in the ConnectClip allows the wearer to send a clearly transmitted message back. This technology effectively turns the hearing aids into a high quality wireless headset  for hands-free phone calls and audio streaming.

Stream TV up to 15 metres away

With the TV Adapter, the wearer can continue enjoying their favourite TV programmes up to 15 metres away. Wearers can change the volume of the streamed sound remotely, without impacting the volume for others.

Discrete remote control

If you want to control the volume, change programmes or simply turn off your hearing aids with complete discretion, you can use any of the three remote control options: Oticon ON App, ConnectClip or Remote Control.

Remote microphone

Even with the best hearing aids, it can sometimes be difficult to clearly understand what someone is saying in a noisy environment. The ConnectClip comes with a built-in microphone, meaning the wearer can pass the microphone to the speaker for a clearly streamed sound directly to the hearing aids, up to 20 metres away. This opens up the user to hearing speech clearly even from a distance or in noisy environments, without impacting the ability to hear other sounds around them. Using the Oticon ON app, the wearer can control the volume of the microphone and the hearing aids themselves, allowing them to hear any combination of the two.

Wireless headset for the computer

With the ConnectClip, users can connect directly to the computer and talk over Skype or other chat software, using the hearing aids and clip as a wireless headset. Users can hear the callers voice directly in their hearing aids, whilst still being able to hear the sounds around them.

Oticon Opn now fully rechargeable.

Oticon have also announced that all of their miniRITE hearing aids are now rechargeable, including existing hearing aids. The Oticon Opn hearing aids now have a hybrid battery drawer, meaning the wearer can change between traditional batteries or rechargeable batteries at any time! The new rechargeable open sound hearing aids can deliver 15-16 hours per day of battery life, even when watching 4 hours of TV and 1 hour of iPhone streaming. The batteries are capable of up to 19.5 hours battery life without any streaming, and fully recharge in the charging dock in just 7 hours. Should the wearer forget to charge their hearing aids, they can simply pop in some traditional batteries and continue with their day. If you have any Oticon miniRITE hearing aids and would like to take advantage of the rechargeable option, simply get in touch with us at Cubex to exchange your hearing aid battery drawer and get the ZPower recharging dock.
